Boogers in Your Mask

“Mrs. Collins, I have boogers on my mask!”

This is what one of my sweet kinder babies said to me today.

All I could do was laugh, honestly.

I thought, “wouldn’t it be great if the only care I had in the world was Making sure I didn’t have boogers in my mask.”

Because not long after that, we got an email uprooting everything that had been in place previously and all the work we put into training these kiddos had to be thrown out.

My flesh wanted to get all upset.

Basically everything we were doing had to be changed except for a few things that didn’t matter in my mind.

Desks were rearranged, decor was moved, things utilized to make the classroom run smoothly: all had to be changed to fit new guidelines.

You could say it was unrest.

Upheaval.

Chaos at best in the minds of all teachers.

But then, these sweet sweet children that fill those seats, adapted.

Just... went with the flow.

Granted they probably don’t even know that isn’t how it’s supposed to be.

Kindergarten shouldn’t be like this.

But they just found where they belonged and went with it.

Looking back on that, I realize how much I can learn from their example.

Child-like faith doesn’t question why or what is happening.

Child-like faith assumes that God, who is in control, has your best-interest at heart.

And though it might be confusing or seem chaotic, it’s exactly what needs to happen to keep you safe and in God’s will.

All you have to do is remember Who’s you are and where you belong.

I think of the verse in Timothy that says God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and love and of a sound mind.

He is also our Comforter.

Prince of Peace.

Counselor.

We can’t go through life worried about what the next trial is going to be.

What’s the next thing that’s going to bring chaos.

Every day is a walk of faith.

Another verse comes to mind: Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You; because he trusts you.

Trust.

Faith.

What we as Christians are called to live by.

Not just have when it’s easy or convenient; but because He’s proven to you that He is worthy.

He’s in control.

His thoughts towards you are good.

His plans are for you to prosper.

Have faith in that plan and settle in His peace so much that all you worry about is making sure you don’t have boogers in your mask.
