I was going to say how amazing the school year has started out.
How my kids are so sweet and kind.
How literally nothing went wrong.
Then I got a call that something had gone wrong and it took over my whole demeanor and clouded my thoughts about the whole week and school year in general.
This one thing, that wasn’t necessarily small, but certainly not the end of the world, changed my whole attitude about the year.
Then I realized that I was waiting for that other shoe to fall the whole week.
It was too good to be true. There is no way the first week went on without a hitch (minus the air conditioning and power going out on Thursday for half the day).
I just KNEW something had to happen because it went way too well.
Then I decided that’s not the way I want to live. I want to live with my eyes wide open to the things that matter.
Although miscommunications happened, it doesn’t change the fact that my kids were fantastic.
It doesn’t change the fact that our two first days with two groups of kiddos went incredibly smooth.
Maybe that last thing wasn’t a part of my plan, but it didn’t surprise God.
God planned for that mishap. He uses the things that we count as failures and shows us something through them.
Now, don’t forget to look.
He shows us something, but we have to look at Him to see it.
It’s not always what we want to learn. It’s not always what we want to see. But it’s what we need.
When I think of what all has happened throughout my life to bring me to this place, I can smile.
I can smile now because I know that we’re all a little broken. God wouldn’t have needed to be our Healer if we weren’t.
I can smile because I know that He gives grace upon grace, and all I have to do is ask.
Brokenness doesn’t make you less worthy. Failures don’t make you less valuable. Mistakes don’t make you unavailable to do something great.
Trials and storms of life aren’t always designed to destroy you or something you hold close.
Some are there to clear a path in order to rebuild something even better than you had before.
Something stronger.
God doesn’t let trials and troubles happen in your life without a purpose and a plan to grow and mold you into something even more beautiful.
So don’t let that one thing that went wrong this week steal the spotlight.
Pray and ask what was meant to be learned, grow, and focus on the positive and blessings you saw.
Tap into His grace, and rest in the fact that His plans are better than yours.
His ways are higher and His thoughts toward you are good.
Prosperity and hope for the future is His declaration. Go ahead and declare that loud and proud!
